I get what you're trying to say, but is this true?

"For the reality is — you’re going to be judged no matter what you wear or do."

You go on to describe the kinds of judgements people heap on us, no matter what. There's no winning! They are all negative.

Have you never thought kindly on someone based on their appearance? That's never happened before this epiphany?

We shouldn't be judgemental. We shouldn't make wild guesses. We should offer benefit of the doubt and grace, especially upon children and especially over something so superficial as dress.

But I think there's another essay worth exploring here. What is it okay to discern about someone due to their choices in attire? Which of these are probably true, which ones aren't? Which ones help us understand and navigate the people around us.

I enjoyed reading this, very much. And I'm glad you changed. I hope you tell more stories about that moment of change. And more essays on the nuances of this.

You can see how much it resonated with your audience and how much conversation it sparked. The way you wrote it, was almost like a poem. Which might be another avenue to explore.
