I strongly disagree with the first one.
Think about a child scared to go down a slide. They ask their father, is it safe? Then once assured, they go down the slide. The next time they attempt to slide they don't need the assurance.
Assurance helps you brave the coming uncomfortable.
And many people can dwell on the past in positive ways, especially around assurances. Anxiety rears its head and then you think to yourself, how would my parents offer me assurances?
