This story is raw and real. 100% insane.
It's interesting how it connects thematically to the last one I read, about men not being who they say they are, to themselves and others. Not listening to what your saying. Again his response echos, oh a squirrel.
I run and write about live storytelling shows in Chicago and one of the most memorable head scratchingly heart breaking stories was a man who had a leftist roommate he adored.
Then he started to date women on okcupid his roommate had messaged. He was mortified to see what he sent them.
He devised a plan to show him the hypocrisy and error of his ways and it all backfired spectacularly because...
Some people compartmentalize. I am x person in y context and I am b person in a context.
They don't need congruence. They've destroyed cognitive dissonance.
A man driven by a fantasy he'll never enjoy. Driven to resent you for not giving him what subconsciously he knows he doesn't want.
Because if he wanted a threesome, with you or anyone else... There's paths forward and it isn't begging your reluctant partner. That's how to sustain longing and resentment while holding the status quo.
Just agonizing to read this story.
